My name is Asha Ali. I am originally from Somalia and I have lived in Portland Maine for 10 years with my four children and husband. Before I came to work at MAIN, I worked as an interpreter at Public Health Nursing. As a Community Health Outreach Worker at MAIN, I help newly arrived refugees and asylees adapt and integrate into the culture and community here in Portland.

MAIN gives me the opportunity to assist the immigrant community in navigating the Healthcare system. One of the most rewarding aspects of my work is the ability to show clients the different resources that are available to them.

What is special about MAIN is that we work with a diverse community with different cultures and languages.

I am proud to be a part of an organization that supports the immigrant community here in Portland Maine!
